             •      3  Motor vehicle accidents
             •      20 Deaths

             Additional activities in the year 2020 by the BCI Unit included:

             •      435 pieces of narcotics were stored in the BCI drug room) arrangements
             are being made to destroy these drugs).
             •      2 vehicles  were processed.  Fingerprints were developed on 1 of those
             vehicles. Blood evidence was obtained from 1 of those vehicles.
             •      44 pieces of evidence were processed for latent prints.  Latent prints were
             developed on 6 of those pieces of evidence.
             •      Eighteen firearms were processed.
             •      5 bullets and casings were sent to the R.I. State Crime lab for NIBIN entry.
             No NIBIN hits were obtained of those submitted as of yet.
             •      $8,907.66 in currency was seized and submitted into the Currency Room.
             Approximately $8600.00 was turned into the state as unclaimed property.
             •      $6,330.00 in counterfeit money was seized and stored in the currency room.
             •      12 pieces of  DNA evidence  was  submitted to  the  R.I.  Health Dept.  for
             testing.
             •      10 Cell phones were forensically examined.
             •      868 Prosecution requests were handled.
             •      200 cases involving narcotics were submitted to the Rhode Island DOH for
             testing.
             •      179 Sex Offenders were registered
             •      5 Autopsies attended.
             •      811 appointments  for  civilian fingerprints were  scheduled of  which 637
             civilians were fingerprinted. Due to loss of personnel in the unit, the number of
             appointments per day was dropped.
             •      110 Background checks were conducted. 354 incidences of drugs seizures
             were stored in the BCI drug room and 310 of those drugs were destroyed.

                                                PROSECUTION UNIT

             The Prosecution Unit is currently staffed by three detectives who hold the title of
             Inspector and are responsible for all adult and juvenile prosecution duties. The
             inspectors are supported by two full time civilian administrative assistants.
             Members of this unit are tasked with preparing all adult arrests for prosecution in
             both the District and Superior Courts, as well as all juvenile prosecutions in Family
             Court.  The  necessary  paperwork  resulting  from  an  arrest  made  by  the  patrol
             division,  which  must  be  submitted  to  the  Attorney  General  and/or  the  City
             Solicitor’s Office for prosecution, is prepared and presented by the Prosecution
             Unit.
