BUREAU OF CRIMINAL IDENTIFICATION
The Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) consists of one Sergeant who is in
charge of the Unit and five detectives. The Sergeant reports to the Detective
Lieutenant. BCI is responsible for the processing of crime scenes, documenting
and preservation of evidence, classification of finger prints, maintenance of
criminal records, performance of criminal background checks, and the
expungement of criminal arrest records. The BCI Unit works closely with CIU and
SVU during investigations involving major crimes such as homicides, shootings
and other violent crimes.
Trainings & Seminars
The nature of crime scene investigations requires constant educational vigilance
in honing one’s skills. As such, the BCI Detectives assigned to the Unit train
frequently in an effort to stay abreast of the latest investigational techniques and
technology. In 2019 our Detectives attended the following training opportunities:
• Det. Eric LeClerc attended Faro 3D imaging school in Florida between
02/20/19 - 02/25/19.
