The partnerships formed by hosting and assisting with outside training have provided
the Cranston Police Department with the opportunity to develop solid relationships
among agencies. These relationships allow for the exchange of information and
training ideas that can assist our officers in better serving the City's residents.
Equipment
The Training Division ordered, maintained, and provided police equipment for the
entire agency throughout the year. The equipment included everything from leather
gear to badges and weapons. Regarding the agency’s Glock service weapons, the
certified armorers within the Training Division provided full-service cleaning to all
members who requested it. Most of the officers took advantage of this service.
Training staff members researched, tested, and evaluated several new items to identify
usable and cost-effective equipment advancements in law enforcement before any
financial commitment.
Due to the timing of ballistic vest expirations, approximately half of the department
needed to be replaced. After conducting lengthy research into multiple products,
Angel Armor was chosen with its proprietary design and increased ballistics. The
Training Division coordinated the measurements and ordering of these vests. After
receiving the shipments at Training, officers tried on the new ballistic vest to ensure
proper fit with any concerns or issues resolved by the Angel Armor representative who
was on site.
