Concealed Weapon Permit Applications and Renewals

Attention CCW Applicant: Due to a high volume of CCW applications, the Cranston Police Department will no longer accept applications from in-state residents holding out-of-state CCW permits who do not reside in or own a business in the City of Cranston. An exception will be considered for applicants who submit a letter from their hometown Chief indicating they cannot process your application.

Effective June 10, 2025, all new CCW applicants must respond to Cranston Police Headquarters with a government-issued photo ID and undergo fingerprinting for a national background check. To schedule an appointment, please contact Senior BCI Clerk Laurie Chapman at 401-477-5024. The national background check fee is $45.00, which must be paid by check or money order to the City of Cranston. The fingerprinting fee is separate from the $40 permit processing fee due at the time of receipt of your permit card.
