The Cranston Police Department is dedicated to the highest standard of excellence in promoting and maintaining a safe, secure and peaceful community. The Cranston Police Department is proud to be recognized as an accredited law enforcement agency by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the Rhode Island Police Chiefs’ Association. To better serve our community, the Cranston Police Department embraces the Community Oriented Policing philosophy. Our belief is that working in partnership with our citizens we can better meet the public safety needs of our community to keep Cranston a vibrant city in which to live, work and visit.

To fulfill this mission, our department will take a proactive stance in response to crime by educating the public, utilizing crime prevention techniques and through enforcement efforts. Various programs such as Neighborhood Watch, online crime mapping feature, Citizens Police Academy and online incident reporting system will be employed to enhance community involvement and provide the power of knowledge and transparency of your police department. The police department leadership team will manage all resources with pride, professionalism and integrity.
