Cranston Animal Shelter
The Cranston Animal Shelter, which houses stray cats and dogs along with homeless pets, is located at 920 Phenix Avenue. The staff can be reached at (401)-464-8700.
Public Hours:
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 12pm-4pm
Saturday and Sunday: 11am-3pm
Monday and Wednesday: The Shelter is closed to the public, however, there is an Animal Control Officer on duty to clean, feed, and answer Animal Control calls from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Adoptions: All adoption applications are to be completed at the shelter with our Adoption Coordinator. Adoption Fees are required and are as followed:
Dogs $300 (Includes microchip)
Cats $150
Kittens $175
For adoptions, microships are automatically included in the fees for both dogs and cats/kittens. Microchips are an additional $50

Wildlife Calls: The City of Cranston will not trap live nuisance wildlife or pests. Please call Department of Environmental Management (DEM) or a private pest removal company. For injured wildlife, please call the RI Wildlife Rehab Center or DEM
Dog Licenses and Rabies: All animals are to be kept up to date with their rabies vaccinations. If you are unsure of your pets vaccination status, call your regular veterinarian. It is best to stay safe! All dogs are to be licensed within the city through Cranston City Hall.
Return to Owners and Surrenders: If your animal is at the shelter or you are in need of surrendering your pet, please call the shelter directly at 464-8700. We can only accept surrenders from the City of Cranston. The owner is responsible for transportation and holding fees.
Note we do not house stray cats and we only take in homeless, surrendered, or sick/injured dogs and cats.
