United States Marshal Service Sex Offender Task Force (SOLEMN)
In an effort to conduct address verifications and combat noncompliance with sex
offender registration laws, the Cranston Police Department works with the United
States Marshals Service Sex Offender Task Force, commonly referred to as the
SOLEMN Task Force (Sex Offender Law Enforcement Multi-Disciplinary
Network). SOLEMN combines all disciplines involved with sex offender management,
including law enforcement, prosecutors, Probation and Parole Officers and
Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) personnel to more effectively
manage registered sex offenders in our community.
United States Marshals Service funding continues to be used to support operations
that assist in performing sex offender investigations including address verification
operations.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program (One Detective
Assigned)
ICAC is national network of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 4,500
federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies. These agencies
are continually engaged in proactive and reactive investigations and prosecutions of
persons involved in child abuse and exploitation involving the internet.
Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force (VFTF) (One Detective Assigned)
The purpose of Regional Fugitive Task Forces is to combine the efforts of Federal,
state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate and apprehend the most dangerous
fugitives and assist in high profile investigations.
