The Cranston Police Traffic Unit is staffed by one Sergeant, three officers and one civilian clerk. This unit is responsible for traffic enforcement, special event traffic control, and the investigation of traffic crashes involving fatalities, serious bodily injury, and city vehicles.
In addition, these officers gather traffic safety statistics as well as manage the federal and state traffic safety grants. Over and above their normal duties, the Traffic Unit has been trained in commercial enforcement and trained as certified law enforcement motorcycle operators.
Lastly, the members of the Cranston Police Department Traffic Unit are trained to install and inspect child safety seats. Please contact Sgt. Needham for an appointment at 401-477-5060 or 401-477-5033.
