data post enforcement shows a decline in neighborhood complaints, speeding,
and quality-of-life issues.
Prioritize Enforcement
• By prioritizing enforcement, the police department can address specific
citizens’ concerns in addition to reacting to data as it is developed.
• Even if eliminating all traffic crashes might be impossible, the goal of
reducing the number and severity of crashes is not.
• The following areas of interest continually have the highest number of
accidents. This can be attributed to a higher volume of vehicles on these
roads.
• The most efficient way to utilize limited police personnel is to review the
data and have officers promote traffic safety in areas with the most
crashes.
• When information comes in, such as a citizen complaint, a concentrated
and concerted effort to decrease violations in that area is done by having
C.A.R.E. details and directed patrol officers focus on it. Stats are kept,
seeing how many violations are observed in the targeted area so that
future details can be productive. See the C.A.R.E. sheets at the end of
this report for additional details.
• The areas on this list have shown to be the most documented number of
crashes. Some areas had an increase in crashes, which was likely caused
by more vehicles on the road returning to post Covid-19 Pandemic
activities.
