the Y.M.C.A. and participating families. A demonstration of the police K-9 unit, a Q&A

session, and gift card deliveries were all part of the fun.

School Resource Officer

Overview

The Cranston Police Department's School Resource Officer Unit is the primary working

liaison with the Cranston School Department. The S.R.O. unit works with the school

administrations to ensure a safe environment for students within and around the

schools. The S.R.O.s strive to keep communication lines open between our public

schools and the police department to identify and address any potential issues before

they can impact our schools' learning environment. The Police and School

Departments formalized a memorandum of understanding as a means of
