result, this Division did not experience any significant personnel shortages and was
able to complete our mission without disruption.
Our investigators continue to work closely with outside agencies during the pandemic
to facilitate our goal of reducing crime. We enjoy an exceptional working relationship
with many other law enforcement agencies. These agencies include other local police
departments, the Rhode Island State Police, and the following federal agencies and
task forces: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF),
United States Marshal Service Sex Offender Task Force (SOLEMN), Internet Crimes
Against Children Task Force (ICAC), RI Human Trafficking Task Force (HSI) and the
Human Trafficking/Child Exploitation Task Force (FBI).
The Cranston Police Department’s Detective Division also boasts a wide array of
equipment and specialized legal and analytical functions needed to investigate and
adjudicate crimes, and to provide the best service possible to the citizens of our city.
The Bureau of Criminal Identification Unit utilizes state-of-the-art technology and
equipment in our enforcement and evidentiary collection efforts. Our Prosecution
Division is responsible for the successful prosecution of all criminal charges brought
by our department and was able to perform admirably during the pandemic with
coordinated and organized effort between the Police Department and the Rhode Island
Judiciary to ensure the justice process was meted out equitably and without delay. We
are assisted administratively by Ms. Patricia Maggs and analytically by Ms. Nicole
Cioffi.
We are very proud of the hard work and efforts that our team of investigators put forth
daily. Our Detectives are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 day a year. It
is this dedication that makes the Division so unique and a special part of the Cranston
Police Department.
