Special Investigations Unit Statistics for 2022:
• Arrests: 51 (Assisted with an additional 47)
• Arrest Warrants: 4
• Search Warrants Executed: 27
• The Cranston Police Department SIU submitted 13 State forfeiture packages
to the Attorney General’s Office in 2022. Included in those forfeitures is
$108,272.00 in cash, 4 vehicles, several items of gold, and multiple items of
electronic equipment. 7 of the 13 submitted cases from 2022 are still
pending at the Attorney General’s Office. The 6 that were successfully
forfeited resulted in the sum of $24,318.00 in cash being transferred to the
city. The department did receive additional transfers of $9,699.90 in cash
from the RIAG in 2022 related to previously submitted forfeitures.
• Through methods of Controlled Buys, Search Warrants, and Arrests the
Special Investigations Unit removed the following illegal narcotics from the
streets in 2022:
➢ Fentanyl 1095.0 grams
➢ Fentanyl Pills 374 pills
➢ THC edibles 3 doses
➢ Marijuana 10757.5 grams
➢ Heroin 0.8 grams
➢ Cocaine 1081.9 grams
➢ Mushrooms 4.9 grams
➢ Unknown Pills 4 pills
➢ Methamphetamine 3.7 grams
➢ Unknown Powder 1.4 grams
➢ Crack Cocaine 73.8 grams
