In addition to the “Blue Riptide” Program, the City of Cranston has its version of
targeted traffic enforcement with the “C.A.R.E.” Program. C.A.R.E. stands for
Cranston Accident Reduction and Enforcement program. Like the “Blue Riptide”
Speed Enforcement Program, this program was re-implemented in 2015 to specifically
target traffic violations through concentrated enforcement in statistically determining
problem areas throughout the city. The Traffic Division Sergeant's responsibility is to
remain up to date regarding the constantly changing problem areas in the city and the
assigned-desired regions of traffic enforcement for the C.A.R.E. details weekly.
