The Records Division is responsible for the department’s record keeping and its compliance with the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) & and National Crime Information Center (NCIC). It is the repository for all police reports filed with the Cranston Police Department. This division maintains and organizes these records while compiling reports that are reuqested by the public and other agencies.

NIBRS Compliance Unit
(National Incident Based Reporting System)
The primary task of the NIBRS unit is to ensure the efficient generation of all monthly/quarterly crime reports to include Uniform Crime Reports and Incident Based Reports with a timely and accurate submission of information to state authorities, as well as monitoring crime reports to eliminate errors and omissions. They are also responsible for the preparation of the annual crime and statistical report for the department.
